Another
walk from the doorstep of Les Hirondelles, this is a pleasant short
walk through the forests around the hamlet which takes around 1
hour 15 minutes.
Leave the hamlet on the lane in the direction of Jabreilles and
continue up the road out of the hamlet. After around 400 metres,
on a long bend, you will see a signposted track on the left leading
down into the forest.
200 metres down this track, on the left, you will come to the first
of the shepherd huts. (Look for the sign on the tree). The shepherd
hut is built into the side of the hill.
Continue down the track and after a short walk you will come to
a track leading off to the right which leads to a second hut of
around the same size built into the side of a wall.
Return to the original track and look out for a small track to the
right which skirts around an area of pine forest destroyed by the
storm in 1998. During the descent you will also come across a hideaway
used by the resistance in the last war. Continue on down the track
until you reach the small tarmac lane. Turn left to bring you back
to Le Cros hamlet. Time for a well deserved glass or two of wine!
