From the rolling hills and forested mountains to the spectacular gorges of the Creuse valley, the moorlands covered with heather and the tiny hamlets dotted around the countryside. Little wonder that this region was a favourite haunt of Monet and other impressionist painters. If painting is your passion then visit Crozant and Fresslines in the north of La Creuse. At Crozant are the ruins of the old château, and the gorges of the Creuse valley, whilst a few kilometres away is the charming village of Fresslines, with its art gallery and numerous independent artists studios.
